AC-HVAF Thermal Spray Equipment

The UniqueCoat Technologies’ AC-HVAF System is a robust industrial platform for application of premium quality coatings in mass production and spray shop environments. The AC-HVAF System was designed to apply all the standard HVOF materials at higher quality and increased productivity, while at the same time eliminating all of the traditional hassles of deploying and operating HVOF and old generation HVAF systems.

Dubbed "Quasar" for the enormous power of its jet, the system applies coatings (especially carbides) so quickly and effectively that every application brings a new opportunity for substantial savings in costs and time.

Exceptional Coating Quality

The Quasar AC-HVAF System applies premium quality metal and carbide coatings from all commercial HVOF powders.

Easy to Use

Operation is simple. The operator loads powder into the powder feeder, loads the default or pre-saved operating parameters on the touch screen, and presses the Start button to begin spraying.

Reliable and Maintenance Free Operation

Inherently simple and time proven gun design, best quality materials and craftsmanship, and state of the art components and electronics that go into the control system, all ensure consistent trouble free operation. AC-HVAF solid particle spray technology completely eliminates nozzle clogging, permitting non-stop operation in large volume applications. This, along with flash-back proof and operator error forgiving design, dramatically reduces the need for spare parts.

Industry Leader in High Productivity and Low Cost of Operation

Quasar AC-HVAF System features spray rates that are unmatched in the industry. Able to spray up to 66 lb/hr (30 kg/hr) in non-stop operation for any length of time, one system is capable of spraying up to 260 tons of carbides per year. However, for most applications spray rates are typically set to 20-40 lb/hr (9-18 kg/hr).

High productivity, use of air instead of oxygen, and low consumption of spare parts result in large cost savings.

Quasar AC-HVAF System consists of a control system, a spray gun and a powder feeder.

SB9300/SB9500 Spray Guns

The AC-HVAF SB9300/SB9500 spray guns have simple, reliable and time proven design. The guns work on propane, propylene, MAPP-gas or natural gas, and compressed air. The SB9500 can spray metal and carbide powders, while the SB9300 is optimized for spraying of carbides. At the core of each gun is a unique patented combustion chamber that makes the AC-HVAF process possible. The BTU output of the chamber exceeds that of HVOF. The released energy is efficiently transferred to the sprayed powder through a system of cascading nozzles.

SB9300/SB9500 Features:

  • Premium coating quality

  • 2300-2600 ft/sec (700-800 m/sec) particle velocity

  • Axial powder injection

  • Efficient air cooling at 100% duty cycle.

  • Up to 66 pounds per hour (30 kg/hr) spray rate

  • Instant start/stop operation

  • Non-clogging nozzles

  • Multiple nozzle configurations

  • Low consumption of spare parts

  • Operator error forgiving design

  • Thick coating capability (12+ mm)

  • Simple robust design

TSR3000HX Spray Gun

The TSR3000HX represents the new generation of AC-HVAF guns. The gun features hydrogen micro-injection that boosts the deposit efficiency by 15-25% and further improves coating quality. The design is lighter, more ergonomic and efficient. The gun includes six nozzle configurations, two for spraying carbides, and four for spraying metals. The powder jet is extremely narrow, although the width can be precisely adjusted by a set of pre-configured powder injectors, depending on the desired target efficiency.

TSR3000HX features a miniature built-in remote control that includes system start-up/shut-off with safety lock, powder on/off, a display with powder feed set point and up/down controls, as well as system status and warning indicator lights.

The gun is also available in non-hydrogen configuration to be used primarily for manual coating application, which is made easier by the gun’s light-weight and ergonomic design.

Quasar 3000 AC-HVAF Control System

Quasar 3000 Control System controls and monitors the AC-HVAF process, utilizing the full power of modern intelligent industrial control components. A PLC automatically sequences all functions required to start/stop the gun and accurately maintain preset operating parameters. The program shuts down the system if it becomes unable to maintain preset parameters or abnormal situations occur. A modular hardware design simplifies system maintenance. The system features an advanced touch screen user interface and user-friendly window-based screens for ease of operation and system monitoring.

Designed in accordance with the highest safety standards, the Model 3000 Quasar Control System features separate gas and electrical compartments with full-cabinet air purge.

Control System Features:

  • Precise control of operating parameters

  • Touch screen operator interface

  • Large recipe storage

  • Real time monitoring of variables

  • Multiple timers for tracking system operation

  • Modular hardware design

  • Highly mobile (can be used on site)

  • Robust and reliable

  • Engineered for safety
