The M2 operates at Mach 2 particle velocities, i.e. 600-700 m/sec, and efficiently sprays carbides, metals and hard metal alloys, including self-fluxing alloys. 100% air cooling eliminates the need for a chilled water supply. The gun's combustion chamber is optimized for operation with natural gas, which allows for dramatic cost reduction while providing good deposition efficiency. The M2 is not susceptible to nozzle clogging and can operate for hours without interruptions. The non-clogging nozzles come in several configurations, the longer and wider nozzles are used for spraying carbides, while several shorter specialty nozzles are used for spraying metallic powders. Optional, smaller diameter, lower-thrust nozzles are available for manual spraying of carbides and metals. The streamlined design of the gun simplifies use with robotic systems. The powder stream is very narrow by default, but can be adjusted by changing the powder injector to correspond to the desired spray pattern.
